Stock Options & Print Finishing//Packaging and Promotion

Uncoated

The uncoated stock used to package these candles creates a rustic feel about them. They white stickers have been applied onto the front to inform you of the scent of each candle. This would have most likely been digitally printed. The text seen on the inner lid informs the viewer a little more and would most probably have been digitally printed directly onto the stock or litho printed depending on number of print runs required.

Target Audience: Those wishing to purchase candles.
Context: Stores selling candles/ homeware stores.

Die cut

The die cut hearts on the packaging of these allow the viewer to see the product before they purchase it.
Target Audience: Those wishing to pamper themselves/wishing to purchase beauty products.
Context: Stores selling beauty products/nail bars.

Spot ink

UV varnish

The black varnish on the black matte makes the packaging for this vodka appear expensive and tasteful. There is a fair amount of varnish used on this packaging, however, the lack of colour allows the overall cost for production to remain low.

Emboss

This clever use of embossing demonstrates how you can create 'colourless' packaging yet allow the identity of the brand to remain. This makes the design more environmentally friendly and reduces the production cost due to the use of no ink, although it would be produced on a large scale. The choice of stock works well with the embossing too as it allows shadows to be created, giving it more impact and enabling the letters to become legible. It is highly functional as a product, the fact that the can is hand held when the product is being consumed allows the embossing to create a texture on the hand of the audience, something to feel. The audience, however, will not necessarily be creatives and are more likely to be people with no artistic appreciation and purely interested in consuming the 'Coke'.
