Uncoated stock
The theme of partnership is represented on the cover by a knotted cord paired with the title “Strengthening Ties”. Throughout the report, this string is interpreted graphically by a printed line that weaves between text and image from page to page. A registered emboss emphasizes this printed line and adds a tactile element to the experience.
Die cut
The die cutting present within this publication gives it another dimension and enables it to work with the brand logo design effectively when fully assembled. It is highly functional as a product in containing the necessary information. This publication will be produced on a fairly small scale, consequently there is the use of spot colour, embossing and die cut resulting in a high production cost.
Spot ink
A blue spot colour has been used throughout this infographics publication based on Government Visa stats. This works considerably well against the white of the pages. It is printed on an uncoated stock.
UV varnish
The UV varnish makes this Royal Mail publication look at little more special than it really is. There is a considerable amount of UV varnish present upon these publications, they will also be produced on a large scale as Royal Mail is a large corporate company; consequently this will cost a fair amount of money to produce.
Emboss
These invitations are both embossed and foil blocked, the gold foil blocking creates a sense of grandeur about the invitation, thus providing a hint at the overall aura of the wedding. The choice of typeface also adds to this grandeur. The embossed boarder encases the information cleanly. As the invitations would be produced for a wedding they would only be produced on a small scale, therefore not costing a large amount to print. However, as there are only a few being produced, it may work out more expensive than if there were to be a large amount being produced.
